Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Gray’s Decor (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms & Conditions govern the sale of services provided by Gray’s Decor, a painting and decorating contractor operating in Westfield, West Lothian and the wider Central Scotland area.
By requesting a quote, booking services, or engaging Gray’s Decor for painting and decorating work, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
1. Definitions
“Client”, “you” or “your” refers to the individual or business receiving services from Gray’s Decor.
“Services” refers to painting, decorating, surface preparation, commercial contracts, domestic projects, and any associated work agreed upon.
2. Quotes & Estimates
2.1 All quotes and estimates provided by Gray’s Decor are free of charge unless otherwise stated.
2.2 Quotes may be provided after a site visit or from photographs or measurements/photos supplied by the Client.
2.3 Quotes are valid for a period of 30 days from the date issued unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2.4 Any variations or additions requested by the Client after acceptance of the quote may be subject to additional charges.
3. Acceptance of Quote
3.1 Acceptance of a quote must be provided in writing, by email or text confirmation.
3.2 Upon acceptance, a booking deposit of 35% will be required to secure the scheduled dates.
3.3 Work will not commence until the acceptance and any required deposit has been received.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Payment is due in accordance with the terms outlined in the quotation.
4.2 For domestic projects, payment is typically due upon completion of the works.
4.3 For commercial contracts, specific payment terms may apply (e.g., staged payments, invoicing).
4.4 A deposit will be required prior to work commencing. This will be confirmed in the quote.
4.5 Final invoices are due immediately upon completion of work unless otherwise agreed.
4.6 All payments must be made in GBP (British Pounds).
4.7 Late payments may incur interest at a rate of 4% per month above the Bank of England base rate or as permitted by law.
5. Changes & Variations
5.1 Any changes to the agreed scope of work must be approved in writing.
5.2 Variations may result in adjustments to price and schedule.
5.3 Additional work requested by the Client will be invoiced separately.
6. Scheduling & Access
6.1 Work will be scheduled by mutual agreement.
6.2 The Client must provide safe and reasonable access to the property at the agreed times.
6.3 Any delays caused by access issues may result in rescheduling and potential charges.
7. Materials & Products
7.1 Gray’s Decor may recommend paint brands and materials based on project requirements.
7.2 Excluding wall colours, the cost of materials is included in the quotation.
7.3 Where specified, high-performance or specialist products may incur additional costs.
8. Health & Safety
8.1 Gray’s Decor will comply with all relevant health and safety regulations applicable to painting and decorating services.
8.2 The Client must advise of any known hazards or restrictions on site.
8.3 Gray’s Decor is not liable for injury to individuals not authorised to be present during work.
9. Warranty & Defects
9.1 Gray’s Decor will rectify defects due to workmanship for a period of 30 days from the date of completion, provided such defects are reported in writing.
9.2 This warranty does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, water ingress, condensation, structural movement or failure to maintain finished surfaces.
9.3 Colours may vary slightly from samples due to lighting conditions and substrate differences.
10. Cancellation & Termination
10.1 The Client may cancel a scheduled job with at least 48 hours’ notice.
10.2 If cancellation occurs less than 48 hours before commencement, a cancellation fee will apply.
10.3 Gray’s Decor reserves the right to terminate services if unsafe conditions exist or if payment terms are not met.
11. Liability
11.1 Gray’s Decor will maintain appropriate public liability insurance for work carried out.
11.2 To the extent permitted by law, Gray’s Decor’s liability for any claim arising out of services provided is limited to the total value of the contract.
12. Data & Privacy
12.1 Any personal information provided by the Client will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws and our Privacy Policy.
12.2 The Client consents to record keeping for invoices, contact information and project details.
13. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.
